Arthritis: Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis

 

Arthritis is a common term often uses to describe causes inflammation and stiffness to the joints. Arthritis can be divided in many types, more over 100 types, each with its own cause, symptoms and treatment.


Osteoarthritis



Osteoarthritis It is a type of joint disease and occurs when joints are over used causing breakdown of joint cartilage and bone underlying and is the most common type of Arthritis. Some common symptoms are joints pain and swelling and stiffness. The joints that carry most of the weight of body are mostly being affected, like knee, hip, feet and spine.

Rheumatoid Arthritis



Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack its own tissues and ligaments. The immune system in the body whose job is to fight foreign substance misunderstands the tissue and ligaments as foreign substance and attacks them. The actual cause of Rheumatoid Arthritis is not known and its diagnosis is not easy.

Psoriatic Arthritis



It affects the skin and joints. It is a long term inflammatory arthritis. It causes eruption of skin in patches and swelling in fingers. It occurs mostly in older people. There are no specific tests to diagnose Psoriatic Arthritis. Physical examination, health history, blood test and x-ray may be used for accurate diagnosis.

Conclusion

The above mentioned types of arthritis is hard to detect but their treatment is not impossible. There are many treatments and medication available on market which are effective during treatment. Physiotherapy and Manual Therapy is one of the methods that can be used to treat types of Arthritis.
